During today's game between the Cubs and Braves at the Friendly Confines, the broadcast team captured something even more interesting than seagulls defecating on fans in the bleachers. Going into the seventh inning, cameras caught a fan actually following the action on the field.

"Bernie and Steve Phillips, the fan greeter [no relation to former Mets GM Steve Phillips], are two great additions to the New York Mets organization," said Mets GM Sandy Alderson. "Bernie's great enthusiasm, curve ball and knowledge of beer and hops will undoubtedly help our organization in fan entertainment, overall on-field talent and alcohol sales."

Mike Quade reportedly marked the one-year anniversary of his hiring as Cubs manager this week by locking himself in the team clubhouse and weeping uncontrollably.

"It felt great to get to 2,000 hits, but that negative sure is a bummer, isn't it," said an exhausted Konerko after the game, still trying to catch his breath after an attempted steal in the sixth inning. "But hey, at least I'm not Adam Dunn. That would really be embarrassing."
