Some of the self-proclaimed "best fans in baseball" are convinced there's more than meets the eye behind their favorite team's major Coronavirus outbreak.
The stay at home order imposed on many Americans comes easier to some than to others.
"Look, it's going to be this way for a while with the Cubs and Pirates," said Cardinals GM John Mozeliak. "So we thought it just made sense to take pride in our current situation. Namely, that we have the best fans of a mediocre team in baseball."
"What's the use?" Matheny asked stunned St.Louis reporters. "The Cubs booted us from the postseason, they sign our Game One starter for less money than we offered, they take our best player for less money than we offered and I'm left with the wretched refuse -- and those are just the fans."
