Newly suspended Phoenix Coyotes winger Raffi Torres is turning to a new outlet to unleash his violent streak. Since being handed a 25-game suspension, Torres was immediately contacted by WWE and offered a guest spot during their “Extreme Rules” event at Allstate Arena, Sunday, April 29. Torres agreed to terms almost immediately.

Pro wrestling insiders are noting that Torres will catch a lot of heat from the Chicago crowd after injuring the Blackhawks’ Marian Hossa. His involvement with the event, coupled with a returning Brock Lesnar is set to be a big money maker for Vince McMahon’s promotion.

“We’re happy to announce the addition of NHL hockey player Raffi Torres to our annual Extreme Rules pay-per-view event,” said an elated McMahon at a press conference. “You’ll have to tune in or be there in person to see just what he has in store for our superstars.”

Torres has had a history of playing rough and bending the rules on the ice. After his suspension was handed down, many questioned how he would harness his energy.

In a written statement, Torres noted: “I’ll be back in Chicago the 29th to make a statement. I’m not only a force in the NHL but I can make a name in tough guy’s sport like pro wrestling as well. I won’t even need to leave my feet to do it.”
