A Midwestern high school senior quarterback whose only Big Ten scholarship offer came from Indiana recently chose enlisting in the Army and fighting in Afghanistan over joining the Hoosiers.

“Let’s be honest, if I play for Indiana, there’s no way I’m getting to the NFL,” said 17-year-old Michael Longhen who threw for 1,750 yards for Kokomo High School this season. “Plus I might get injured and then lose my scholarship. At least in Afghanistan I’ll get to shoot guns just like in ‘Call of Duty’ and if I get hurt there I get a medal or something.”
