As the Northwestern Wildcats football team gears up for their season opener against Cal on Saturday night, students at the prestigious Evanston college were ecstatic to find their team ranked by AP, the coaches poll, and ESPN, each of whom have them as the 7 multiplied by π best team in the nation (or (4!)-2 in factorials).

Northwestern is bringing back 15 starters from last year’s squad, which ended with a 10-3 record and a Gator Bowl victory, including many of their skill positions. Journalists at the Daily Northwestern have pointed out that they have a 83% chance of exceeding last year’s lofty status, though they did add there was a 23% margin of error with their calculations.

Even the most pessimistic of Northwestern’s students have told reporters they feel confident that the Wildcats will make, and possibly win, another bowl game this season, and they have stated they’d be disappointed with anything less than the sixth Fibonacci’s number amount of wins.
