The Jets are being rocked by another scandal as it’s been discovered famous fan “Fireman Ed” Anzalone is not a New York City firefighter as he has long purported. Anzalone is actually a Connecticut-based plumber, devastating news to Jets fans across the country for whom Fireman Ed has been a symbol for more than 20 years.
“I am terribly sorry for the news that has broke today,” Anzalone said from a plumbing job in New Britain. “However, the accusations are true and I have never been a New York City firefighter nor did I ever plan to become one. I just adopted the persona because more people rally around a firefighter than a stupid plumber from Connecticut. As for my status on Jets games, I will still attend but I will not lead anymore J-E-T-S chants as I am too disgraced right now. I am also deciding to retire my famous Bruce Harper jersey and am deciding to go with a Dwayne Robertson one, at least for the rest of this season.”
Ed’s lawyer, Joshua Stein, also had a few words to say about the incident.
“I know I’m supposed to support Ed in all of his pursuits, but as a life-long Jets fan I am truly disappointed in my client’s actions,” Stein said. ” It’s impossible for me to rally behind a plumber so effective immediately, I am no longer Ed’s legal representative and now am his sworn enemy.”
