Bears wide receiver Earl Bennett tried to board a United plane bound for San Diego this morning when TSA agents stopped him at security checkpoints. A spokesperson for the TSA stated that Mr. Bennett simply refused to cooperate with standard security procedures requiring him to remove footwear in order for the items to be scanned.

While being sequestered for questioning, Bennett called coach Lovie Smith to inform him that he would not be making the trip to San Diego. A very groggy Smith calmly reminded his valued receiver that the game this Sunday was at home. A humbled Bennett apologized to the TSA and offered to buy everyone some TCBY.

A few minutes later he was released and took a cab home without further incident.
