President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein locked down the Cubs future Tuesday night by signing MVP candidate Javier Baez to a historic contract through 2043.
Theo, Jason and Tom vowed to make destination visits with vengeance on making sure the Cubs win two of three or three of four in every road series all year long.
Saying they don't intend to put an undue amount of pressure on their manager, the Cubs have reportedly informed Joe Maddon the team will have to go undefeated in order to keep his job this season.
"Ask any fan and they'll tell you we have all the money in the world," said Epstein. "Plus, signing stars is so easy because other teams typically don't get involved in the bidding, and we know there will always be money left over to lock in our current players when their contracts are up."
Theo Epstein apologizes for leaked internet ESPN the Magazine body photos: ‘I was young. I needed the money’
"To say I'm beyond embarrassed by these photos is an understatement," said Epstein. "That was a dark period in my life. I was young. I needed the money."
The Cubs traded Welington Castillo to the Mariners today and immediately called up seven catchers to replace him on the big league roster.
