As the St. Louis Cardinals continue their playoff run and find themselves just one win away from their second World Series appearance in three years, John Franklin, the lone Cardinals fan in his Naperville, Illinois office building, has become increasingly intolerable, according to reports from his irritated coworkers.

“I have to say, John’s been really pissing everyone off everyone in the office lately,” one coworker told reporters. “I mean, after [the Cardinals] beat the Pirates he kept saying really condescending things like, ‘Oh, you gotta hand it to Pittsburgh, they really left it all on the diamond, just wasn’t quite enough’ and things like that, which was pretty obnoxious since everyone else was clearly pulling for the Pirates to win. But during this Dodgers series, he’s just been beyond annoying. Seriously, everyone’s been avoiding his desk all week.”

Many cited Franklin’s 30-minute water cooler speech complaining about “Puig’s showboating” as the breaking point, as well as his tendency to respond to any negative comment about the Cardinals by angrily shouting, “Oh yeah, well when’s the last time YOUR team won the series, huh? 2011 for me, baby!”

While his coworkers have begun actively rooting against the Cardinals because of Franklin’s attitude, they do admit that it’s better than the office Boston fan who has been growing out his beard since July.
