After being arrested in New York last week for allegedly yelling hate speech and attacking a group of tourists, Tigers outfielder Delmon Young said at a press conference Monday morning he was actually yelling “I hate to lose!”

He then said he couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about, just like that time in the minors when he was putting his bat back in the bat rack and the ump got in the way.

“I don’t get it,” said Young. “Why do these things happen to me? Now with Brandon not on the team anymore, I can’t imagine the reaction I’m going to get when we play our next home game. Lately they’ve been saving all their booing and hatred for him.”
