The Chicago White Sox were playing like it was June all over again in last night's dramatic opener against the New York Yankees. The South Siders rallied to beat the Bronx Bombers 6-5 in an 11-inning struggle in which neither team ever led by more than two runs.

After another disastrous eight-run inning at Wrigley Field, beloved Cubs radio play-by-play announcer Pat Hughes described the trash thrown onto the field by disgruntled bleacher bums with his usual panache and flair for the dramatic.

The Chicago White Sox went to Toronto over the weekend hoping to get some easy wins against the struggling Blue Jays, who had lost five straight prior to Friday night’s series opener. While the Sox did notch a couple of victories, the Jays played tough for a team in a severe slump.

The White Sox got a rough start to their 11-game homestand Monday night in a 6-3 loss to their foes from last year's ALCS. Although the Los Angeles Angels deserve credit for their great hitting and a solid performance on the mound by starter Kelvim Escobar, they have Sox pitcher Mark Buerhle to thank for their win as much as anyone else.

In a weekend of reversals, Carlos Zambrano lost while Mark Prior won, and the umpires changed a few calls.
