Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez recently announced he’s going to try out for the NBA this fall, citing the league’s 82-game season as the perfect length for his dwindling work ethic.

“We’ve been pretty unbearable this season, especially at the plate,” said Ramirez, who was named NL Player of the Week last week after hitting roughly .150 the rest of the season. “That’s why I want to play a sport where my team will actually put some points on the board. Plus, this 162-game season is way too long. 82 seems a lot better.”

Ramirez only plays about 82 games per season anyway, so the move is logical. However, it’s still questionable whether there’s a team in the NBA willing to take a chance on the slugger.
