This weekend, Michael Jordan spoke on the record about LeBron James’ stint as a free agent for the first time and was rather critical of the spectacle that culminated with James and Chris Bosh joining Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat. Ever the shrewd businessman and gambling addict, Jordan put $1 million on the Heat to win the 2010-2011 NBA title.

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,'” said Jordan at a Nevada golf tournament. “At the same time, the Heat’s now a 2-to-1 to win it all next season. That’s crazy. I’d put them at 4-to-3. You gotta lay down big money at 2-to-1.”
