The Cubs have dealt the player to be named later from the Oakland A’s in the Jeff Samardzija-Jason Hammel trade to the Incheon SK Wyverns of the Korea Professional League.

“We’re not sure who the player from the A’s will be,” Cubs GM Jed Hoyer said. “And, we really don’t care.”

Hoyer said there was no chance the PTBNL would be of any value, given A’s GM Billy Beane already gave up all-world prospect Addison Russell and 2013 first-rounder Billy McKinney to get Samardzija and Hammel.

“It’s not like Billy is going to ship us anyone else of substance,” said Hoyer. “So if we can get a few prospects from the Korean League that don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of ever making it to the major leagues, we’ll take it.”
