Hours after the game was scheduled to begin, Super Bowl XLVIII continues to be delayed as NFL officials, the Seattle Seahawks and the nation’s fans wait for the Denver Broncos’ team bus to arrive at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
“Maybe they got caught in a traffic jam on a bridge or something,” said New Jersey governor Chris Christie. “It’s been known to happen from time to time.”
Whether the Broncos are currently stuck in traffic or just late because they forgot the game was today, one thing is clear: people are growing restless.
“A lot of money is at stake here,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “Between the advertisers and the TV deals, this game really needs to happen. I just don’t know where the Broncos could be. They’ve never been late to a game before. I hope everything is alright.”
For now, everyone is still cautiously optimistic the AFC Champions will show up before the game is forced to be rescheduled.
