Unemployed Bears fans from around the country joined the celebration today as Matt Forte’s long contract disputed has finally ended, with the running back reportedly locking up a four-year, $32 million contract.

“It’s great to finally get this distraction behind us,” said Bill Pinner, a former car salesman who lost his job in 2009. “I’m sure Matt will be as concerned about the job situation for the rest of us as we were for him.”

Pinner wasn’t alone in his relief.

“Just like a lot of my friends, I’ve been out of work for nearly a year now, so it’s good to see someone finally getting paid, even if it’s millions of dollars a year to play a game for a living,” said Tommy McMahon, a former steelworker from Northwest Indiana. “Now if I could just manage to find even a minimum wage job in this terrible economy I might be able to get on with my life.”
