Late Wednesday night, DirecTV announced their squabble with the Tribune Company had ended, subjecting millions of subscribers to the horror of WGN broadcasts of Cubs games this season. Backlash ensued as angry parents and concerned sports fans threatened to end their DirecTV subscriptions immediately.

“I was relieved to hear we wouldn’t have to worry about our kids watching the Cubs on WGN and learning the wrong way to play baseball,” said Stephen Daley, a DirecTV subscriber from Omaha. “But now that they might catch a glimpse of Alfonso Soriano jogging out a grounder or Carlos Marmol walking the bases loaded on 12 pitches, I’m concerned to the point I might have to cancel DirecTV immediately.”
