The Blackhawks added one more to their losing streak Friday night as the Minnesota Wild came to town to beat Chicago 5-2, putting the losing streak at eight. But Sunday night the Hawks were able to top the Nashville Predators in overtime, 3-2. It was a big win for the morale of the team.

“No doubt morale was low,” said head coach Denis Savard. “Probably similar to the way the Union troops felt when they were forced to retreat at Manassas in 1861.”

Patrick Sharp had another goal in the game, bringing his total to 22 on the still-young season. Savard has praised Sharp’s play and his ability to adapt to any role Savard puts him into.

“Sharpy has definitely been our go-to guy,” Savard said. “He has been clutch and is a great leader out there. Not like that General George McClellan refusing to take his well-trained troops south into Richmond to beat the rebels. Sorry, I watched a Civil War documentary over the weekend.”

Number of the Night: 1

Current winning streak. Hopefully they can keep adding to it.
