From John Elway to Emmitt Smith, the Super Bowl MVP has uttered the famous line, “I’m Going to Disney World!” For Bears QB Rex Grossman, those words bring back some unpleasant memories.

While at the University of Florida in 2002, Grossman was subjected to ridicule by his Gator teammates during an outing to the theme park prior to the squad’s appearance in the Outback Bowl. College and Bears teammate Alex Brown recalled the episode.

“Rex was so fired up to go on all the rides, he was like a kid in a candy store,” said Brown. “And then they kicked his ass off of Space Mountain because he was so damn short. There were nine-year-old girls laughing in his face.”

While a trip to the Super Bowl should mark the pinnacle of a player’s career, Grossman has been forlorn ever since the Bears NFC Championship game victory over New Orleans.

“I thought Disney World was supposed to be the happiest place on earth,” said a dejected Grossman. “I can’t believe I’m going to be stuck riding ‘It’s a Small World’ all day again.”
