Coming off a bye week, Bill Franklin, an overly optimistic Chicago Bears fan and Schaumburg native, has been pointing out to family, friends, and coworkers that the Bears did not lose this weekend. While acknowledging the lack of a loss came primarily because the team did not get a chance to play a game, Franklin told reporters that “it’s a step in the right direction” and that the team is going to “really give it their all next week, I can feel it.”

Franklin came into the season posting Facebook statements such as, “I think this is gonna be the year Cutler returns to Pro Bowl form” and “I’m calling it right now, our defense is going to end the season number one in the league in turnover ratio.” He was most recently seen walking down a row of cubicles at his office, high-fiving his coworkers while saying, “We’re still 2-4, baby! No loss this week! Bear down!”

While his friends and associates admit Franklin’s optimistic attitude about the bye week has been pretty annoying, they all agree that it’s better than his cousin, a Green Bay Packers fan who has been complaining all weekend that his team didn’t get to win during their bye week.
