You’d think Heat fans would be thrilled their team was on the verge of its second NBA title, but as it turns out, they were just hungry. While it may have sounded like the arena was cheering their heroes on in unison, they in actuality were chanting “Let’s Go Eat!”

“I mean, yes, I wanted the Heat to win, but the game was talking too long,” said “diehard” Heat fan Carlos Diaz. “I wanted a Cuban sandwich, and the food at the Triple A [American Airlines Arena] is hot garbage.”

Miami sports fans have long had a reputation for leaving games early, possibly to frequent the many fine restaurants in South Beach, and Thursday’s Game 5 was no different. The sold-out arena was at about half capacity by the end of the third quarter.

“Whoa, I did not chant ‘Lets go eat!’ Don’t put words in my mouth,” added angry New York transfer, Joe Kleinbaum, who vacated his third row seats behind the Heat bench. “I said ‘Pest-o Beef!’ which is a delicious dish at Shorty’s BBQ. You know how hard it is to get a table there after 9?”

While the Heat celebrated their championship, one player was missing from the court. Injured big man, Eddy Curry apparently left the arena around the same time Joe Kleinbaum did and was found three blocks away at a food truck eating buffalo wings.
