Next week promises to be an exciting time for Jim Cornelison. Blackhawk fans can expect to see him give his usual stirring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the start of the preseason on Tuesday as the Blackhawks drop the puck for the first time this season.

What might surprise Hawk fans is that Cornelison will appear on the season premiere of NBC’s The Voice Monday at 7 p.m.

“I guess the secret is out. Yes, I will be on this season’s Voice,” said a jovial Cornelison. “The nation is gonna learn I can belt out more than O Canada. I don’t want to give anything away, but let’s say I’ll have my pick of the judges.”

Cornelison has seen his national profile rise this month with an appearance on the Colbert Report.

“I’ve been a fan of The Voice for a while. I never miss an episode, but I have to admit I miss CeeLo [Green].”

The Voice will allow Cornelison to sing with veterans at his sides. Also, an American flag will be raised for him to stare at while he sings.

“I’m excited for America to hear my Country Grammar.”
