The Bears signed their second free agent safety in as many days Wednesday, adding M.D. Jennings, better known as “anybody but Chris Conte,” to the roster.

“We have a long list of priorities this off-season and signing safeties not named Chris Conte is on the top of that list,” said GM Phil Emery. The team also signed another “anybody but Conte” named Ryan Mundy Tuesday and speculated Wednesday that they could add more safeties via free agency and the draft as well.

“The way we’re looking at it, we could have an entire roster full of safeties when we head to camp,” said Emery. “We’re going to let them duke it out and whichever one is capable of making open field tackles at least 25 percent of the time has a legitimate shot at taking over the starting job from what’s-his-name.”
