Saying he was grateful to be the starter for several games during the season, Bears backup quarterback Josh McCown can now concentrate on continuing his education through an online university.

“I didn’t finish my senior year at Sam Houston State,” McCown told Bears.com. “Now with Jay back as the starter, I’ll have more time.”

“Earning my degree through the online program will be a dream come true, an even greater accomplishment than being second and third string quarterback on eight pro football teams for the last 12 years.”

While he isn’t yet sure about what degree he will earn, McCown said choosing a major isn’t his primary concern. “What I need to do is buy a really good laser printer so when I finish school, I can print out my diploma.”
