Now that the Bears have fired offensive coordinator Ron Turner, the team is looking to make some major changes in order to be competitive in today’s NFL. Consequently, Lovie Smith has explored other offensive schemes, with the Run and Shoot being the current favorite.

“Before we fired Ron, he brought over some tapes of USFL games, and I saw how well those teams were able to move the ball with that system,” Smith said of the inspiration for his interest in the Run and Shoot. “If it’s good enough for the Houston Gamblers, it’s good enough for us.”

Other offensive alternatives include the Wing T (Bay City version), the Wishbone and the Flying Wedge.
