The trash-talking Detroit Lions didn't exactly back up their words Sunday afternoon versus the Bears, but they did manage one impressive drive, the first of its kind against the Bears defense this season. It resulted in Jon Kitna's one-yard TD scamper that cut the Bears lead to 17 points. Chicago held on to the lead however, winning 34-7 at Soldier Field.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz and wide receiver Az-Zahir Hakim announced their engagement last night. The two revived their partnership in Detroit after a five-year seperation. Wedding details have not been made available.

The Detroit Lions come into their Week 2 match-up against the Bears with huge expectations—according to one of them, anyway. Despite the fact the Lions offense scored just six points on Sunday and will be facing one of the NFL’s top defenses, wide receiver Roy Williams is pretty confident his team will get its first win this week at Soldier Field.

Lions line coach Joe Cullen was arrested for a DUI after Wendy's drive-thru personnel (they are trained by the CIA, so watch yourself within 20 feet of any Wendy's restaurants) noticed he was naked when picking up his order. His top 10 excuses:

Bears QB Jay Cutler was bruised and battered following Chicago's 24-13 loss at Detroit Monday night, but was given the game ball by coach Lovie Smith for not requiring a wheelchair to get back home.

"All week long I was super-pumped for that game," said Gorecki. "But now for the life of me I can't recall why."

Lions coach Jim Schwartz went after 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh for blabbering key plot points of the latest installment of this season's "Sons of Anarchy" while both coaches shook hands at the conclusion of their game Sunday afternoon.
