Tigers 2, White Sox 1
At Comerica Park
Thursday, June 12
It's possible the Detroit Tigers may have finally turned the corner and become contenders. It’s also possible the Sox may be a terrible road team. Whatever the case, the bottom-feeding Tigers finished their sweep of the league-leading Sox thanks to a walk-off Miguel Cabrera home run.

Darrin Jackson said "There's no question Carlos [Quentin] could use a mental blow right now." I'm not sure we should question DJ's prognosis, but CQ's average has dropped 20 points since the beginning of June.

Mark Buehrle worked quickly and effectively through eight innings while Octavio Dotel's outing was just quick. "Oh, do tell" gave up the go-ahead run in just the second batter he faced.

Miguel Cabrera has now beat the Sox twice in this series. It doesn't quite justify his huge contract, but it's a start. Placido Polanco overcame getting his head run over by a truck to register two hits.

Hawk Harrelson--a lifetime .239 hitter--has a theory for why the Sox had such a hard time against Kenny Rogers. "The worst thing a right-handed hitter can do against Rogers is go up there and try to hit the ball hard," said Harrelson. Don't look for Hawk to replace Greg Walker when the hitting coach gets fired next month.
Next up for the Sox
In one of the more boring interleague matchups this season, the Sox welcome natural rival Colorado Rockies to The Cell this weekend.
Number of the game: 4
The inning where Hawk left DJ alone to perform his awkward "flying solo" broadcast.
Quote of the game
"A great place to take the kids is the Museum of Science and Industry. As are other places. The Museum of Natural History, the Art Museum." -- Sox announcer Darrin Jackson, ad-libbing his way through a promo.
