The Heckler is currently seeking resumes for the following part-time positions. All candidates should be creative, talented, thick-skinned and quick on deadlines. Being good at other stuff is only a plus.

Available Positions

Ad sales rep
Sell retail advertising space to local and national businesses for placement in The Heckler's monthly hard copy, on TheHeckler.com and various other outlets; Solicit new advertising opportunities in the assigned territory or category; Build and maintain existing customer relationships; Provide value-added service to customers via: advertisement layout and design, key messaging and strategies for quantifying advertising effectiveness; Meet and exceed monthly goals through growth of account base; Promote brand awareness and participate in PR events and promotions Customer account management, maintenance and collections.

Graphic designer
Produce regular images to accompany articles or standalone as their own content in both theheckler.com and The Heckler's hard copy edition. Images must often be manipulated to depict a situation that differs from reality. Designer must be quick on deadline and open to constructive feedback. Prolific knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and similar programs is a must. Strong knowledge of PowerPoint also a huge plus.

Distribution assistant
Manage one or several monthly distribution routes around Chicago. Must be an insured driver with a valid driver's license and strong knowledge of Chicago and its neighborhoods.

Public relations assistant
Increase and enhance the public's awareness and perception of the The Heckler by creatively leveraging The Heckler's existing media relationships and creating new ones.

General staff writer
Submit one or several monthly articles varying in length (but rarely longer than 250 words) to The Heckler's editors to be considered for inclusion in The Heckler's print version or theheckler.com. Having expertise in a particular major local sport is a plus. Please send only resumes and past examples of writing when applicable. Original written submissions will not be read or accepted.

General staff writer--Other Markets
Do everything a General staff writer is expected to do, just about a different town. Be the start of something big by helping us roll The Heckler out in a new market.
