2011 Cubs Convention Issue 23
The 2011 Cubs Convention is in the books. We had a blast at The Heckler booth talking with Cubs fans and selling T-shirts and whatever the hell else it is we do there. What was the biggest highlight? Probably when our mascot Chug-Chug the Comeback Clown met Tom Ricketts and even got to shake hands with the guy.
“This is embarrassing, to say the least,” Quade said as he briefly awaited a cab outside the hotel. “I didn’t start managing until late August last year and was under the impression it would be that way again."
In a petulant effort to stick it to the Cubs for their continued banishment, Sammy Sosa is now holding his own fan convention, hoping to steal fans and publicity away from his former franchise during their big weekend.
"The only reason we won a World Series was to stick it in the face of Cubs fans forever," said GM Kenny Williams. "This year's SoxFest is going to be great."
Alfonso Soriano had only one request in preparation for this year’s annual Cubs Convention -- absolutely no mention of sliders. So it was only natural that panic and confusion set in when the slugger arrived at the Hilton Chicago to see the word "sliders" listed on the menu.
Cubs owner Tom Ricketts has resorted to street performances in an attempt to raise funds for Wrigley renovations.
