Cubs manager Joe Maddon defended his decision to bring Aroldis Chapman in the seventh inning Tuesday night, saying he also told his closer to prepare for a 27-out save in Game 7.

“If Kyle [Hendricks] lets the lead-off man get on base tonight, we’re going with Chapman,” said Maddon. “He’s not going to be on this team next year, so might as well ride him into the ground.”
