Retired linebacker Bill Romanowski denied claims he’s a racist after calling Cam Newton “boy” in a tweet sent Sunday night over what he perceived to be Newton’s a bad attitude at the conclusion of the Panthers’ 24-10 loss to Denver in Super Bowl 50.

“You will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn’t revolve around you, boy! #CamNewton,” tweeted the former 49er, Eagle, Bronco and Raider and admitted steroid-user.

Reaction on the internet immediately questioned Romanowski’s use of the racially charged “boy,” but he denied that he meant anything by it.

“I’m definitely not a racist,'” said Romanowski. “Yes, I hang out with mostly white supremacists but I have at least one or two friends who don’t believe whites should dominate society over all other races.”

Added Romanowski: “If that makes me a racist, then I don’t know what to tell you, boy.”
