The Cubs made national headlines Friday by announcing the hiring of Joe Maddon, whose Tampa Bay Rays won 77 games in 2014, three more than the lowly North Siders.

“Any time you can get a guy who had a winning percentage .024 higher, you go out and do that,” said Cubs president Theo Epstein. “Hopefully once Joe’s contract only has a year left we can fire him and bring on someone who’s won — I don’t know — five more games than us that season.”
