Jay Cutler was cut from the Bears today for wearing a Packers necktie to Halas Hall this morning where he met the team’s training staff to discuss rehab options for his injured knee.

When stopped by a security guard and asked about the tie, Cutler reportedly flashed his signature boyish grin and shrugged his shoulders, a reaction familiar to fans following inexplicable Bears losses. When Cutler was challenged several more times in the building and refused to remove his tie, he was informed that his services would no longer be needed.

Bears staff were said to be “shocked” at first, but GM Jerry Angelo later told reporters, “in a way, it all sort of makes sense now.”

For his part, Cutler says he has “moved on” and is considering options that “are flooding in,” including taking on the high school coaching job at Waukesha North High School.
